Deceuninck has launched its new Carbon Calculator, which helps fabricators and installers to work out their carbon footprint using data they already hold.

Independent research commissioned by Deceuninck and conducted by YouGov shows that lowering their carbon footprint is a factor in purchasing decisions for almost 70% of UK homeowners.

Separate research by Deceuninck shows that while fabricators and installers want to lower their carbon footprint, many struggled to know where to start and were put off by the complexity involved in the process.

Deceuninck has created a unique carbon calculator that allows window companies to work out their headline carbon footprint simply and easily, using metrics that they should already be collating.

Rob McGlennon, Managing Director, Deceuninck, said: “The Deceuninck Carbon Calculator allows you to input key metrics that you’ll already have to hand, for example your annual energy usage or fuel spend and work out your headline carbon footprint in an easy-to-understand dashboard.

“It also pulls in the data that we have as an upstream supplier to fabricators and installers so that as we work to lower our carbon footprint, the carbon footprint of our customers also goes down.”

Deceuninck has established a lead on sustainability based on its’ commitment to the Science Based Targets (SBTi) programme, with a headline pledge to cut the CO2 emissions from its own operations (Scope 1&2) by 60% by 2030 from a 2021 baseline.

Cutting emissions by 21% last year puts Deceuninck, which last year won the G-Award Sustainability Initiative category, already ahead of target.

Rob continued: “There are lots of corporate schemes aimed at larger companies – Science Based Targets is one of them.

“There is more limited support for smaller companies, and although the Government publishes a list of UK emissions factors which you can work through individually to work out the carbon footprint of your business, it’s time intensive and requires resources that many fabricators and installers will struggle to find.

“The Deceuninck Carbon Calculator enables installers and fabricators to short-cut that process while recording the metrics that they need to be able to evidence.”

In addition to allowing window companies to measure their carbon footprint, Deceuninck has also provided guidance on how companies can lower their CO2 emissions – and how a more sustainable approach can help them win more business.

This includes a Sustainability Marketing Toolkit, with headline positional statements drawing on Deceuninck’s commitments under Science Based Targets; own-branded-printable sustainability brochures; plug-and-play website content; e-shots; social media assets; presenter decks; and video content; door-drop leaflets; sustainability logos; showroom pull-up banners, wall decals; and flyers.

“You need to be able to measure your carbon footprint because your customers expect you to be doing something to reduce it”, Rob said.

“That is a challenge but also a massive new business opportunity for companies who start that process now because it puts them immediately ahead of their competitors.”
